Structure and curriculum. The HSW Fribourg offers a modular study program, whereby a module consists of several courses. With each completed module, students earn a certain number of ECTS credits (credit points). In the first semesters, students acquire basic knowledge in economics and management (financial management, taxes and law, management and human resources, marketing, economics, mathematics, computer science, statistics, communication and foreign languages). The program is characterized by a combination of research-oriented and practice-oriented elements, outstanding supervision ratios, and great individual freedom of choice. . Historians direct attention to the similarities and differences between contemporary and past ways of life and horizons of thought. They work primarily with research literature and historical sources, which form the basis of the subject. At the University of Konstanz, the Master's program in History gives you the opportunity to set your own focus and pursue your favorite area of interest. Conference interpreting
In the MA Conference Interpreting program, students acquire expert knowledge in simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, note-taking techniques, voice training, rhetoric, terminology work, and interpreting science. Upon graduation, they are prepared to work as interpreters in national or international organizations and in private industry. All lecturers are professional interpreters with UN or EU accreditation.In addition to their A-language (mother tongue) German, students take one to three of the following B-languages (foreign languages): English, French, Italian, Spanish. Passive knowledge of French is required to attend the cross-language courses.
Bachelor of Arts in Primary Education
In the first year of study, our students get to know all levels (kindergarten, lower school, middle school) and then make their decision for a diploma type:Diploma Type A: Bachelor of Arts in Primary Education (preschool and primary levels, 1st to 3rd grade).Diploma type B: Bachelor of Arts in Primary Education (primary level, 1st to 6th grade). The program (diploma type A and B) is a three-year university program. It concludes with a Bachelor of Arts degree. The teaching diploma is recognized by Switzerland and allows teaching in kindergarten and/or elementary school.Diploma type A: Bachelor of Arts in Primary Education (kindergarten and primary level, 1st to 3rd grade).Students of diploma type A receive a basic education in all study and subject areas and are trained to become all-round teachers. In the area of design, all three subject areas (visual design, technical design and textile design) are addressed in the modules in an interdisciplinary manner. Students can choose English or French as a foreign language, but these are not compulsory subjects.Diploma Type B: Bachelor of Arts in Primary Education (Primary, 1st to 6th grade). Students of diploma type B are also trained very broadly for practically all subjects of the elementary school. In the area of design, they choose between visual and textile design (or visual and technical design). The training includes one or two foreign languages (English and French), depending on the foreign language skills. Previous foreign language studies outside of school are recommended, but not required for admission.General Information. You will specialize through major studies and set individual study emphases with additional elective courses. Classes are mainly held in the university building Mariaberg in Rorschach. Starting in the first semester, internships are completed in schools.An international guest semester can be organized as an integral part during the six semesters of study. During the bachelor's program, 180 ECTS credits are earned. Part-time study is possible from the second year onwards.Practice-integrated studies. In the practice-integrated studies, students complete all internships at the same partner school from the 3rd semester onwards. This enables them, among other things, to gain additional experience in the practical field through participation in school and extracurricular events.Career-integrated studies. From the fifth semester onwards, students in kindergarten and primary education have the opportunity to combine practice and theory even more closely. In the professionally integrated study program, students are employed for two years at a cooperating school between a minimum of 30% and a maximum of 50%. Master of Arts in foreign language didactics
The specialized Master of Arts in Foreign Language Teaching is offered in collaboration with the HEP|PH FR, the PH Zurich as well as the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) and the Dipartimento Formazione e Apprendimento (DFA) of the Scuola universitaria professionale della Svizzera italiana (SUPSI) at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Fribourg. It is a degree program for future professionals in issues related to the theory and practice of foreign language teaching. The Master's program provides knowledge of various approaches and methods of foreign language teaching and learning, the analysis of which enables students to evaluate, develop and apply teaching-learning concepts for the different levels (primary to upper secondary). The program includes bilingual courses on language acquisition and language teaching, multilingual competence, socio-political aspects of multilingualism, multilingual didactics, applied linguistics, and general didactics, as well as a teaching practicum at a teacher training college. The HEP|PH FR is involved in the master's program at both the organizational and teaching practice levels. The HEP|PH FR offers internships for DaF, FLE and EFL and organizes the teaching internships at the partner universities, which also include the Lucerne University of Teacher Education. In concrete terms, an academic staff member of the Center for Didactics of Foreign Languages (CeDiLE) is responsible for the distribution of the internship places. Furthermore, the HEP|PH FR actively participates in the teaching by having a lecturer from the HEP|PH FR lead a course.

The study program "Business Administration" at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland comprises 180 credits and ends with the degree "Bachelor of Science". What is the PH Institute NMS?The Pedagogical University Institute NMS (formerly IVP NMS) trains teachers for kindergarten and elementary school in the center of Bern (5 min. walking distance from Bern main station). Those who study here appreciate our institute culture as well as the stimulating learning environment in manageable seminar groups. The training is comprehensive, practical and personal. Master of Advanced Studies in Transcultural Communication & Translation (IKF/HDS/SAL)
Whether it's a company manual or an advertising text, a wedding certificate or a divorce decree, a film or news: Texts that go beyond the local scope are translated. The world speaks three to four thousand languages! A world full of languages needs reliable intermediaries. Extending your translation studies at SAL or HDS into the MAS Transcultural Communication and Translation at IKF Lucerne will enable you to enter further professional fields in an intercultural context. We are convinced that cultural differences between people, teams, companies, organizations and societies can and should be used as a positive resource. Scope of study and duration. The Master's program has a value of at least 100 ECTS credits.The study at SAL takes at least 3 years.The study at HDS takes between 1.5 and 3 years.The study at IKF takes between 1 and 1.5 years including the Master's degree. The study program at the SAL comprises 6 semesters.The HDS study program comprises 2 CAS.The study program at the IKF consists of 2 CAS (the compulsory module CAS "Intercultural Communication & Transcultural Competencies" as well as an elective module) and the master's semester.
